Community Guidelines

Pinily exists to get people out of the group chat and into the same room. That only works if the room is somewhere people feel safe. Everything below follows from that.

Towards people

• Harassment, bullying, threats, stalking, or piling on.
• Hate speech or attacks on someone for their origin, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability. Racial discrimination is a criminal offence in Switzerland under Article 261bis of the Criminal Code.
• Sexual content involving minors, in any form. This is reported to the authorities, always, with no warning first.
• Unwanted sexual advances, or sharing intimate images of anyone without their agreement.
• Sharing someone's private information — address, phone number, workplace — without their permission.
• Pretending to be someone else, or setting up an account in another person's name.

With events

• Fake events, events at addresses you have no right to use, or events you have no intention of holding.
• Selling tickets to something that will not happen. This is fraud, and it is the fastest way to lose an account permanently and without a refund.
• Using an event listing as an advertisement for something that is not an event.
• Events organised around illegal activity, or that put people at obvious risk.

With the platform

• Spam, mass unsolicited messages, or chain invitations.
• Scraping, bots, automated account creation, or hammering the API.
• Trying to get around a suspension with a new account.
• Manipulating payments — chargeback abuse, testing stolen cards, laundering money through ticket sales.
• Interfering with anyone else's use of the service, or with its security.

With content

• Posting things you do not have the right to post.
• Graphic violence, or content glorifying self-harm.
• Deliberate misinformation that could put someone in danger.

You can report a user, an event or a single message from inside the app, and add a screenshot. You can block anyone, which cuts the connection both ways and is immediate.

Because chats are end-to-end encrypted, Pinily cannot read them and cannot scan them. Reporting a message is what makes it readable — the app reveals that one message together with a cryptographic proof that it really was sent by the person you say sent it. Nothing else in the conversation is revealed, and nobody at Pinily can go looking.

Reports are read by a person. There is no automated judgement.

If something on Pinily infringes your copyright, write to contact@pinily.com with: what the work is, where on Pinily it appears (a link or a screenshot), why you hold the rights, and how to reach you. Content that is clearly infringing is removed and the person who posted it is told, so they can respond if you have got it wrong.

Switzerland has no statutory notice-and-takedown procedure like the American DMCA. This is Pinily's own process, offered because it is the sensible thing to do, and it does not affect your right to go to court under the Swiss Copyright Act.

Depending on what happened and whether it has happened before: content is removed, a feature is switched off, the account is suspended for a set time, or it is closed for good. The money side of a suspension — subscriptions, boost credits, tickets you sold — is set out in section 9 of the Terms of Service, and it is written down precisely so it is not decided case by case.

If you think a decision was wrong, reply to the message you were sent, or write to contact@pinily.com. A person will look at it again.

Not rules — just the things worth remembering, because Pinily is not there when you arrive.

• Meet somewhere public the first time.
• Tell someone where you are going and when you expect to be back.
• Arrange your own way home.
• Keep the conversation in the app until you are comfortable.
• If it feels wrong, leave. You owe nobody an explanation.
